It's a Nice Drive to the Winner's Circle
Heavy Duty MuscleBar
By Daryn Guarino
The Heavy Duty MuscleBar (5oz bar for $7) is a triple-milled, pure vegetable base,
bar soap (made in the USA) with shea butter, vitamin E, and aloe vera.
Shea butter is obtained from the karite
nut, harvestable only once per year, of the Mangifolia tree in Central
Africa and is also known as African Shea Nut Butter or Karite Butter.
Shea
butter is being loudly touted today by plastic and reconstructive surgeons
for its remarkable moisturizing effects, so I was eager to give it a try.
If it had a campy garage-based smell, as I expected it to, I was unable to
place it.
It did produce a nice foamy lather that really did leave me
feeling "ultra-clean" as promised by the packaging.
It left behind only the
faintest of neutral scents, so anyone could use this product (maybe not
babies, but everyone else). The best part was the fact that my skin was
clean, but not dry at all. An alligator hide is only a harsh shower away
from me, so I was pleased to discover that I was refreshingly hydrated
afterward.
I would recommend the MuscleBar for cleaning purposes because it
does some nice work without harming the finish. Seven dollars for five
ounces of average soap would be too much, but this bar is a step or two
above average and worth the extra expense.
