Caerlon Gardens
T.J. Currey
By Melissa Miller
With a background in alternative medicine and dermatology, T.J.
Currey created
Caerlon Gardens. Her entertaining website offers many artful
products including unique, fragrant and beautifully packaged
soaps.
Among my favorites are The Bees Knees, Caerlon Garden’s
most requested soap, which is a blend of oatmeal, turmeric,
coconut milk and honey, Loco Kokomo, which contains over 60%
coconut with an exotic tropical coconut scent, and Cranberry
Cooler, which has a crisp and refreshing cranberry aroma that Currey says is a wonderful morning wake-up lather.
Changing Tides Soap is
made for women only. It’s formulated with evening primrose
oil, black seed oil, wild yam roots, oatmeal, chai tea leaves,
shea butter, coconut milk, dong quai, chaste tree, and
Siberian ginseng. This nourishing bar is scented with
grapefruit, lemon, lime, cucumber, jasmine, and pineapple
scent and should provide any woman with an added boost when
needed. These soaps sell for between $4 and $5 a bar.
My favorite product is the delicious MochaLotion ($6 for 2.5oz.), a solid body moisturizer loaded
with butters and oils, packaged in a convenient swivel-up
container. It’s available in an eclectic mix of fragrances
including Earth Mother (patchouli), Sugar and Spice, Sunflower
Springs, Minted Mocha, A Wise Woman (sage and grapefruit),
Flower (geranium essential oil), Jamaican Rum and Celtic
Karma.
Possibly the most exotic scented salt scrub I’ve ever
tried is Medieval Sea Salt Body Scrub ($5 for 6oz.), with
dead sea salts and a mind-clearing essential oil blend of
clove bud, lemongrass and patchouli. The scent is heavenly;
aside from rubbing it on my body I would stick my nose in the
jar and take a whiff to give myself a quick transcendent
moment.
Another must-have from Caerlon is TJ’s LipGoo ($2 for
.15oz.), a slightly tinted, all-natural moisturizing lip balm
in a tube. Try this in the Margarita scent for a fruity
scented lip treat.
Caerlon Gardens also carries Glycerin Soap Lips ($1 per
“Kiss” bar), Scented Rock Crystals ($4 for a bag) and
Tub Teas in
a variety of fragrances ($1 for 2 teas).
