Smells Like Teen Spirit
California Baby
By Daryn Guarino
My son spotted the bubble-wand in the
California Baby Overtired
& Cranky Bubble Bath ($12.50 for 13 ounces) from across the room
and it’s a pretty clever idea.
The "no tears" bubbles hung in
strong and thick and both boys enjoyed them. The baby was shy of
getting soap in his eyes (a Daddy-bath trademark), but
the gentle bubbles quickly won him over.
We sculpted horns and
beards and giant noses and blew bubbles and had a great time.
The word aromatherapy appears on the label, which means next to
nothing to me. The scent was very, very light and quite
pleasant, but therapeutic? Sadly, it dried my boys out a little
bit. My wife did not report any drying effect and neither can I,
so the more delicate skin of my children is to blame.

The
Botanical Shampoo and Bodywash ($9.95 for 8.5 ounces) smelled
lemony and sweet. As a shampoo, it left their hair shiny and
smelling lightly of citrus.
As a body wash, even though it has
jojoba and babassu oil, it was too drying for the little guys.
Easily worth the price, but not really special enough for gift
giving and not for the most sensitive of skin.
