Tried and True and Going Strong
By Melissa Miller

Caswell Massey

Goat milk and honey soap from Caswell MasseySince 1752, Caswell Massey has created unique products cherished by George Washington, Dolly Madison, George Gershwin, Judy Garland and John F. Kennedy.

An old favorite of mine is their lovely Goat’s Milk and Honey Soap ($15 for three 3oz bars). By combining the benefits of two tried and true healing agents—honey and goat milk—this delicately scented soap provides gentle cleansing, leaving the skin soft and moisturized.

Designed for use on the face and body, the soaps are perfect for even the most sensitive skin, and are also reported to be effective on acne and blemished complexions. Three individually wrapped soaps come in each attractive, artful Caswell Massey box. Available at CaswellMassey.com.

Burt's Milk & Honey

Burt’s Bees has always offered no-nonsense, homegrown, effective skin care. My sister swears by Burt’s Bees Milk and Honey Body Lotion ($9 for 8oz) for herself and her two year-old daughter.

Milk and honey body lotionThe lotion is gentle enough for sensitive skin and babies; it contains no additives, fillers or preservatives, but is loaded with skin-loving ingredients such as sunflower oil, honey, vitamin E, milk powder, and aloe vera.

As if all this were not enough, it has a rich milky honey aroma. This moisturizing, lightweight lotion absorbs easily and can also be used on the face.

An interesting side note is that Burt’s Bees gives back to nature with their conservation projects for U.S. wooded areas. You may read more about this at BurtsBees.com. Their site also offers an online store.
