Chance Endeavor
Thimbleberry Hill Soapworks
By Melissa Miller
According to its owner, "Thimbleberry
Hill Soapworks came about by chance. As I entered my
forties I began to develop allergies to many of the additives
and preservatives found in commercial detergent bars and soap
products."
"Remembering my Great Grandmother's soapmaking, when
I was a child, I began experimenting with natural vegetable
oils and goat milk. Soon I had developed a gentle soap that
did not irritate my allergies."
Thimbleberry Hill offers a
number of goat-milk soaps in exotic scents and beautiful
colors. The Blackberry Musk Goat Milk Soap is an intoxicating
blend of sweet fruit and musk. My next favorite is the Oatmeal
and Honey Goat Milk Soap, which has become my post-gym shower
staple, as the honey scent is relaxing and soothing.
These
soaps contain goat milk and natural oils (coconut, palm,
olive and apricot) and are available in such scents as Apple
Harvest, Patchouli, Orange Creamsicle, Rosemary Mint and Tea
Rose.
They are round and packaged with attractive
labels, making them ideal gifts by themselves or in gift
baskets. Normally priced at $4.00 per bar, they are
currently being offered for $10 for three bars. Thimbleberry Hill also makes shampoo bars, solid
lotion bars and lip balms.
Editor's note: Unfortunately, Thimbleberry Hill Soapworks has been closed for
some time due to health reasons. We hope they're back soon.
